food what i ate: thursday
Thursday - one of my favourite days of the week! So close to the weekend, so full of promise.....
After shower/while getting ready: Hot water and lemon.
Breakfast on the train: My usual commuting breakfast wrap - a white/wholewheat wrap filled with organic smooth peanut butter, 1 small sliced banana, ground cinnamon and a sprinkle of cacao nibs.
9am: Organic Earl Grey Rooibos tea (Dragonfly brand). Decided to have a coffee-free day and succeeded!
Morning tea: A raw fruit "cookie" by Miss Wallflower Candy, also from my Nutribox. This is a raw vegan biscuit-like snack made of sprouted almonds, coconut, hemp seed, flax, agave, cacao nibs, goji berries, maca and vanilla. Loved it....just wish there had been another one :)
More morning tea: About an hour later I needed another snack! I had the rest of the Om chocolate bar from Tuesday (two pieces left) and most of this little package of raisins, hazelnuts and almonds, both also from my Nutribox (nothing left now!)
Lunch: In the work canteen. The vegetarian main course was a tart and I didn't feel like pastry today, so I had two of the hot side dishes - basmati rice and ratatouille - with a small salad and a big cup of miso soup.
I loved the miso soup - I wish the work canteen did that more often! There was a lot of tofu and wakame in my serving which was lovely. My salad was beetroot, raw peppers, green beans, chickpeas, hummus and sunflower seeds. This was a great lunch and kept me going all afternoon. I was seriously tempted to go back for more miso.
Afternoon tea: Pomegranate green tea (not pictured)
Dinner: We reheated the rest of last night's delicious spinach, orzo and lemon soup:
I usually make a big batch of something on Wednesday - curry, soup, etc - so there are plenty of leftovers for Thursday night so when I get home after a long day in London we just have to reheat stuff. Tom did offer to go out for pizza tonight, however, but I suggested we save that for the weekend!
I also had a piece of home-made bread (also made yesterday) with my soup.
Dessert: I had a small tub of 0% Total Greek Yoghurt which I carefully unmoulded into a small bowl so it looked a bit like a panna cotta. I sprinkled over some cacao nibs (it's been the day of cacao nibs hasn't it!), chopped raw almonds and flakes of coconut. YUM.
As I write this: Drink Me Chai spiced chai latte made with steamed Alpro almond milk.
No exercise today but will make up for it tomorrow with a big run. If I'm able to run after I've been to the dentist that is (sad face)!
