monday mantra

I hope you guys can read my handwriting! ;)

Sometimes when I read something amazing that I want to remember I write it down in my journal.  I wrote this down a couple of months ago now when I read an interview with author and coach Lois Frankel.  This was the final paragraph.

I talk a lot on this blog about getting out of your comfort zone.  What’s the old saying….if you always do what you’ve always done, then you’ll always get what you’ve always got.  In my experience the only way change happens is by getting out of your comfort zone.  One change sets a whole range of others in motion.   It’s the law of the universe.

Sure, it’s risky.  But in my experience getting out of your comfort zone always pays off.  Even if you don’t get the exact result you were after, you still grow as a person and you still learn things.  Getting out of my comfort zone is the main reason I am where I am now.  Sometimes, admittedly, it wasn't always a choice - shit happened and I had to roll with it but it all involved getting out of my comfort zone, big time!  And when push came to shove and I got tested along the way I needed to stop worrying about failing, or worrying about what other people thought, and just go for it :)

Outside of your comfort zone is where all the magic happens.  Stay in the comfort zone and you might feel safe and keep other people happy.....but will you get what you really want?

I hope you are inspired to do something outside of your comfort zone today :)

What is Monday Mantra?
I love inspirational quotes and about seven years ago, when I had no motivation, no direction and no idea how to make my life what I wanted it to be, I read something that changed everything. It was a small quote in a magazine, from the Australian marathon runner Pat Farmer. He said “if you really want to do something, in your heart of hearts, you will find a way. But if you don’t really want to do something, you will always find an excuse.”

It was so fantastic….and made so much sense. It became my mantra. It still is.

Now, through my various trawls through the internet, I see many things that catch my eye and fire me up, and I want to share these with you. So I put them all together and post one a week. Something that I think is worth sharing, something that I think is good to be reminded of.  Something that might just be for you what that Pat Farmer quote was for me.
